Voices of Europe unite to help Syria’s refugees:
Civil society campaign calls on Europe to Act now!
The European Council on Refugees and Exiles (ECRE), Future Worlds Center and KISA invite you to a press conference for the launch of the pan-European campaign “Europe Act Now” calling on European leaders to act now to protect refugees fleeing the conflict in Syria.
With the Syrian conflict running its 4th year over 2.4 million people, half of whom are children, are currently registered as refugees. UNHCR estimates that there will be 4 million refugees in the region by the end of 2014.
On the 6 March 2014 national NGO’s all across Europe launched a campaign to call on European governments and EU institutions to offer protection to those fleeing the conflict in Syria in a spirit of solidarity with Syria’s neighboring countries. This campaign will petition European leaders to act now to ensure access to protection for the men, women and children fleeing the conflict in Syria.
The press conference for the launch of the campaign in Cyprus will take place on the 12th of March 2014 – 11 am at Goethe Institute, 21 Markos Drakos Av. 1102 Nicosia Cyprus.
